In a bold move NBC announced the near future replacement of the number one late night host Jay Leno promoting Conan. Months of rumors are now confirmed. Late night television is going to be shaken up. The new lineup is going to be The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, followed by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

After months of speculation, Jimmy Fallon has sealed a deal to succeed "Late Night" host Conan O'Brien on NBC in 2009, sources said. O'Brien, whose show airs at 12:30 a.m., is moving into the 11:30 p.m. slot next year following "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno's retirement, which was announced in 2004.

When Jay Leno steps down as the host of the Tonight Show, and Conan O'Brien takes his place, Jimmy Fallon will take Conan's spot. Foxnews is confirming that the rumors are true. NBC will make the formal announcement about Fallon around May 11 or 12, when the network presents the fall '08 schedule to advertisers here in New York.

First thing this morning I read that WGA members were angry at Jay Leno because he said that he wrote part of his own material for last night's monologue, for the Tonight Show, which is not permitted because he is also a member of the union that is striking against Leno's employer – NBC.
